From Brigadier General Graham

27th July, 2007

Michael & Barbie, and all Involved in "Sacrifice For Freedom"

Thank you for the most beautiful and touching tribute to our son 2LT Jeffrey C. Graham's sacrifices. This memorial is in a most prominent place in our home and grips our heart everyday. We know the genuine loss and compassion each of you devotes to the creation and production of this work of art and have no better words so we will simply say -- "Thank you so very much".

Sincerely,
BG Mark A.Graham, US Army
Land of the Free…. Because of the Brave

First I would like to say that we received one of your beautiful memorials on Saturday which happened to be the day that we had a fishing day for military children in my son Sgt. Thomas M. Gilbert’s honor. What a great thing to come home to! My son was killed in Iraq on 10/25/06 and I am amazed at the wonderful people that continue to let us know that his sacrifice is not and will not be forgotten.

There wasn’t any information with the memorial other then your website so I was not sure who to thank, so thank you very much and if there is someone that had this sent to us please let me know so that I may thank them also.

Again, thank you so much…

The following note is related to the Ryan Berg presentation

Mike,

The moment I learned about the "Sacrifice for Freedom Memorial" I was spiritually and emotionally moved, and it has taken a special place in my heart. I have shown and told everyone I know about this great gift God has inspired you to create.

On Memorial Day my Family and I were honored to present the first "Sacrifice for Freedom Memorial" to a family that had lost their 19 year old son in the war. The day was overcast, but the weather cooperated long enough for us to make the presentation. As I said that day, "flowers last only one day, cards are put away, but a memorial is there forever." It was all I could do to get through the afternoon and not begin to cry. The parents of Ryan were so very moved by the presentation and by the presence of so many people who had come to honor their son. The grandparents of Ryan were totally in tears when they were also given a Memorial.

Although I have no family members participating in the war, I am going to acquire a memorial for my home and donate one to a soldiers family.

I am so proud and honored by any soldier who has been or is currently in the Armed Services. Every chance I get I will always thank them for fighting for my freedom and safety.

Let us not forget about the service men and women fighting for us. I pray that God will watch over them, and that they will all return home safely.

From CMSgt David Lewis

As an active duty service member with 27+ years on active duty I applaud "Sacrifice for Freedom" efforts to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of our service members.

Giving ones life in service to our country is the true ultimate sacrifice. However the sacrifices continue for the family members left behind and also for the returning wounded service members. The "Sacrifice for Freedom" recognizes this sacrifice with the production of the "Sacrifice for Freedom" coin and memorial. I have personally presented over 50 coins (presented to me at no cost) into the hands of deserving service members. Words cannot express the gratitude expressed when I present a coin and explain the meaning behind it. The coin represents appreciation from the American public for the sacrifice these service members make on a daily basis in service to their country.

I applaud the fund raising efforts made by "Sacrifice for Freedom" to support our fallen/wounded and their family members. Our military men and women need to know the American public supports and appreciates their service. This organization lets them know America cares!

Mike,

I think it is important to point out that your "Sacrifice for Freedom" piece is the "alpha to omega" symbol of military service when you include.."From a Grateful Nation". From the time I took the "Oath Of Enlistment" and swore "Under God" that I would "Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States..So Help Me God" until I am laid to rest "I" am a veteran.

By including "From a Grateful Nation", it is a fitting tribute to the veteran (active or inactive..killed in action..died of service connected injuries...or died of natural causes) and provides comfort to the veterans friends and family. In fact, there are some people that would want the piece that do not have a personal relationship with a veteran but just want to honor those that have and are currently standing in harms way for them. The uses of what God created with your hands are endless.

When I was the Commander of a formal US Armed Forces Funeral Service, I was very moved by how the widow of the deceased veteran received the properly folded American flag at grave side. It meant so much to her to know that her husband's life, sacrifices and service to the country he loved was appreciated by a "Grateful Nation". It is very special that you have the folded American flag holding the coin.

So many people unfortunately, don't appreciate the sacrifices made for our freedoms. Just think, there are over a million teenagers all over the world that are willing to die for us at this very moment!! We need to honor all vets as part of being an American..the Sacrifice for Freedom piece reminds us always who we are and who HE is.
